The Zambia Theatre Houses Development Project is a pilot project coined by Yezi-Arts Promotions and Productions as a way of providing support to theatre houses in Zambia. The Project aims at contributing to planning, programming and marketing capacity at the theatre houses in Lusaka, Kitwe and Chingola on how they can better respond and meet the needs of the current and potential theater going community and other theatre users by December 2007. The two-pronged approach in the implementation focuses on providing support to the theatre houses through a strategic planning and development process and capacity building.

The key component of the support is to facilitate the development of strategic plans, business plans and annual investment plans. The main activities involve:

• Facilitating for strategic planning and management to the existing executive committee and/or council members and staff at the theatre houses as part of the capacity building process for the theatre houses.
• Assisting in the development of business and annual plans, which could become the basis for investment into both the structures and activities at the theatre houses;
• Provision of training in basic marketing, resource mobilization and communication strategies;
• A sub-component of the support is to provide basic equipment such as desk-top computers for each of the three theatre houses, which will be used for administrative (record keeping, financial management) and also to enable them use it for information generation and dissemination through internet connectivity.
